EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR was developed by Francine Shapiro, PhD., in 1987 and is a proven, effective therapeutic approach that facilitates healing of issues based in traumatic events.
Trauma includes a broad range of experiences. If you are blocked from moving forward with your life due to an event or events, you are living with trauma. If you struggle with dealing with day to day issues due to overreaction and emotional pain, you may be living with trauma.
Each individual experiences trauma differently and, therefore, the resolution of disturbing memories needs to be individual as well. Through rapid eye movements or bi-lateral stimulation, EMDR is used to help clients in the treatment of disturbing experiences that underlie many behaviors, PTSD, phobias, and other experience-based disorders. The process of EMDR is always done at the client's level of comfort and pace, so he/she is an integral part of the healing.
EMDR is approved by the American Psychiatric Association.
EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT is a gentle form of counseling intervention developed by Gary Craig in the late 1990's and is based on neurolinguistic programing and acupuncture theories. By working with acupressure points, the healing of emotional issues may be resolved effectively. Once learned, clients may use this method on their own.
